James R New began his carrier in brass musical instrument manufacturing at F.E.Olds and Son in 1973 then moved on to study trumpet making under the direction of Domenick Calicchio in Hollywood California. After eighteen months Jim moved to the Benge trumpet factory in Anaheim, California where he worked for four years and where he met and worked with Zig Kanstul. As Benge was preparing to shut it’s doors Jim became a consultant for CG Conn Corp. in Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Mexico a duel border operation. Then in 1982 when Zig Kanstul decided to start his own company, Jim was asked to become the first employee hired at Kanstul Musical instruments, and soon became the Plant Manager. Jim worked in all aspects of the company and introduced CNC technology to Kanstul and eventually went on to create it’s vast brass mouthpiece division. Jim personally made all the custom mouthpieces that musicians came to depend upon. Now, after over forty-one years in the musical instrument manufacturing industry Jim has opened his own shop dedicated to making music more enjoyable by making life easier for the musician, at an affordable cost. Jim is dedicated to this work, his family, and his customers.
